Ted Cruz Endorses Donald Trump for President

Huh…

Today Ted Cruz officially endorsed Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential race.

In a post on Facebook, he outlined the two major reasons he would be voting for Donald Trump come November, saying that he wanted to honor his promise to the GOP by supporting the Republican nominee along with Cruz feeling a potential Hillary Clinton presidency would be “wholly unacceptable.” He went on to list the reasons of why he decided to endorse Trump which included repealing Obamacare, appointing justices that would be “in the mold of [Antonin] Scalia”, and support revoking amnesty for undocumented immigrants.

So yeah. On an issue based level, Cruz deciding to endorse Trump in the presidential race makes a lot of sense. Even during the Republican primaries, they basically shared the same basic talking points during debates and stump speeches. Now with all that said, let’s not lose perspective here. THIS NEWS IS FUCKING WEIRD AND COMPLETELY OUT OF LEFT-FIELD!!!

Remember the clashes that both Donald Trump and Ted Cruz had during the Republican primaries?! Whether it was Trump insinuating that Cruz’s wife was ugly to Trump claiming Cruz’s father was part of the JFK assassination to Cruz giving a prime time speech at the Republican National Convention then not endorsing Trump on stage; their political clashes were downright nasty!

Honestly, it’s hard to say what brought on the change of heart for Cruz to now endorse Trump. Maybe it’s because he’s looking at a pretty contentious primary race with Rep. Michael McCaul in 2018 and hopes to get back into the good graces of the Republican Party? Or he figures Clinton is a big enough threat to the presidency that he decided to embrace an “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” philosophy? But whatever it is, 2016 may go down as one of the craziest election cycles in recent memory!
