Fair or not, CNN is giving Joe Biden every opportunity to be in the first Democratic Primary debate.
No one really knows, probably not even Joe Biden himself, if he’s going to run for the 2016 presidential race. But if he is, CNN has given him ample amount of time to decide.
CNN, who is hosting the first Democratic primary debate on October 13th, tweaked their rules a bit to allow Biden to enter the race on debate day and still qualify for the first primary debate. With the current rules, Biden wouldn’t even need to file with the Federal Elections Commission (FEC) to run. He would just have to show the “intent” of running by publically committing that he will file with the FEC.
This makes sense considering Biden is polling well, even if he isn’t running. Unlike the GOP primary, the Democratic primary currently has only five candidates running: Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Martin O’Malley, Jim Webb, and Lincoln Chafee.
But truthfully the race is between Clinton and Sanders.
We will see if Biden decides to run or not, but if he does, this race could get a lot more interesting.
