It’s like talking to your politically opinionated uncle at Thanksgiving. Only we’re more knowledgeable, less drunk, and a little less racist. Alright, cards on the table, we’re probably a little buzzed right now.
Welcome to ThePostTurtle.com. The Blog. Soon to be a “proper site”, but a blog right now.
I’ve been describing “the site” for so long using words like “a dense political site for the generally apolitical” or “a site that is two-thirds political theory and one-third Simpsons references.” Having now worked on the site for over the past few months, I can say that it’s a little more complicated than that.
But honestly, not by much.
At its heart, The Post Turtle is a political site focusing on American Politics. Initially, this blog is going to be used as a forum for myself and others can talk about American Politics. We hope to differentiate ourselves from the litany of other political sites in our unique take on matters. That could mean anything, from a simple explanation piece on an important story to something a bit more left-field. Like really, really left-field…
We’re an odd bunch that is into things like the Bitcoin, Game Theory, and policy initiatives. But at the same time we are equally into The Wire, quoting episodes of Arrested Development, Internet gifs, The Beastie Boys, and old 8-Bit Nintendo games. All these aspects, believe it or not, make up who we are, so it would be ridiculous to think that they won’t bleed into the site.
If The Post Turtle is nothing else, it will be transparent and earnest. And probably a little dumb too, but that’s expected. While increasingly rare – and to be honest looked as a detriment – in the political spectrum, it’s something that we will strive for because it’s something that we believe in. The only thing that we can be is ourselves, terrible puns, grammar mistakes, and all.
As we start finding our “voice”, our crack engineering team will be hard at work expanding The Post Turtle as we see fit. We have lots of ideas for the site, so stay tuned.
Otherwise, to get a better understanding of what we are trying to do, checkout some of our content. And if you happen to accidentally learn anything about the political process or find us mildly entertaining, all we can say is…
Otherwise, from all of us at The Post Turtle we sincerely hope you enjoy the site and stick around. Because even if this venture is a train wreck, we hope to go out in a blaze of glory.
Frankly, it’s the only way we know how.
